On 12 July, Lublin will welcome the Polish Capital of Culture Bus – a unique project created by Bielsko-Biała, Polish Capital of Culture 2026. The mobile art gallery and meeting space will stop in the city, inviting residents to discover contemporary culture together through workshops, exhibitions, performative activities and music.
The visit of the Polish Capital of Culture Bus offers not only an opportunity to take part in a rich artistic programme, but is also an example of cooperation between cities that use culture to build relationships, strengthen local communities and develop dialogue with residents. For European Capital of Culture Lublin 2029, partnerships of this kind are an important part of the long-term process of building networks and exchanging experience between cultural centres across Poland.
Event programme
From 4:00 p.m., the event space will fill with artistic and creative activities. Residents will be able to visit the mobile gallery inside the Polish Capital of Culture Bus, see exhibitions of photography, poster art and illustration, and take part in open workshops led by artists from Bielsko-Biała.
The programme will include, among other things, the puppet performance “Everyman”; linocut workshops led by Bea Stoszek and Piotr Szwagrzyk; street art workshops with Marcin “Malik” Malicki; performative poetry readings featuring Bo Jaroszek; and exhibitions of photography, poster art and illustration by Michał “Misiek” Baranowski, Dorota Koperska, Sebastian Kubica and Justyna Jędrysek. Throughout the event, the Polish Capital of Culture Bus will invite residents to take part in participatory and creative activities. Under the arts dome – a space for workshops, conversations and encounters – the programme will be accompanied by an ambient soundscape prepared by Soulcore Collective – Piotr and Maciej Szwagrzyk.
From 8:00 p.m., the Polish Capital of Culture Bus will transform into a mobile music stage. DJ sets by Soulcore Collective will bring the evening to a close, creating a space for dancing together, meeting others and spending time in a relaxed atmosphere. It will be a symbolic finale to the day – a moment bringing together residents, artists and everyone taking part in the event.
The Polish Capital of Culture Bus project is an artistic journey across Poland, taking culture beyond the walls of institutions and making it part of cities’ everyday spaces. The mobile gallery visits successive towns and cities, creating opportunities to meet, act together and exchange experience among artists, residents and local cultural communities.
We invite you to join us on 12 July from 4:00 p.m. at Łokietka Square. Admission to all events is free.
