The title of European Capital of Culture 2029 is yet another reason to visit Lublin. Our title year is still four years away, but the city is already an attractive destination for many Europeans. In 2024, we welcomed 2.3 million tourists, many of whom were drawn by our rich cultural offerings. We are confident that this year will be even better.
At the invitation of the Lublin Metropolitan Tourism Organization, ZOPOT in Rome, and LROT, on the eve of the launch of a regular flight connection between the Italian capital and Lublin, we presented our program plans to Italian journalists, tour operators, and cultural creators, as well as ways to enjoy our city today. A rich history, remarkable heritage, exciting cultural events, proximity to nature, and a unique atmosphere naturally blend with professionalism and our signature Lublin hospitality.
The event took place at the Polish Institute in Rome and was attended by the chargé d’affaires of Poland in Italy, Ryszard Schnepf, as well as representatives of the Lubelskie Voivodeship government.
The European Capital of Culture focuses on transforming a city through culture, but it also has a significant impact on the tourism sector. The examples of Liverpool, which gained a completely new image thanks to a bold artistic program, Matera, which attracted over a million visitors in its title year, and Nova Gorica, preparing for up to 5 million event participants, suggest that Lublin is in for some extraordinary years ahead.
